The more you look into it and into the question of revision, the more you realize there is no single authoritative version of any Murakami work: he reserves the right to tinker with everything long after it has found its way into print. I once heard that Willem de Kooning would occasionally follow a painting of his to the gallery and revise it on the wall.As a truly alert reader might have noticed, I often continue to revise posts here after publishing them.
